Well guys after 2 years of researching, planning, and seeking out parts... The swap has begun.
Some will ask why I went with this when a off the shelf kit would probably have been cheaper and less of a headache to install.
My answer the short version is, I love the roots style blower, I love how they behave and sound. And an Eaton will look very factory and clean.

So Marc called me today and says he is bored, so I go over and we put in a good 2 hours just looking things over and taking some of the bigger parts off.

This is what the Motor looks like in stock form

Then we moved on to removing the Stock Air Tube

We then removed the upper intake and the Alternator

After that we pulled the fuel rails off and worked on getting the Lower intake off.

Then it was time for a bit of Comic Relief. It appears I had some creature living in the valley of my block. No joke we found what looked to be a nest and some aicorns and shit.

So we cleaned it out and here is a shot of the valley

It was a good start, found some things that may need attention, and at least its finally started and I can feel like I am actually working towards getting it done. Marc is the man as always, he is a great friend and I am very lucky to have him helping me with this.

The next steps will be drain the coolant out of it, get all the coolant hoses out as every single one will need to be replaced. That should give us enough room to work on getting the stock crank pulley off and anything else in the way of getting the timing cover off.

Stay tuned, I will take as many pics as possible and keep you up to date as we go along. I am not sure how long this will take, but I have done a good amount of research and have met some very nice people that are willing to answer questions.

A recent Swap on a 99 yielded 470 RWHP so I hope to be in that range.

We will see.......

Pat nice start once its apart you will get it done before you know it, you always learn more in wrenching yourself than reading about I think, and it should be fast as hell.

Thanks Marc I appreciate that, ya it is a bit involved. This is not an off the shelf kit, infact documentation for this is very scatered all over the place. There is no how to manuals or instructions.

The good news is we are dealing with Ford parts, everything has its place. Its just figuring it out.

Ok everyone, got a good amount of hours in on this tonight. Big Thanks to Jay (90convert) for coming over to lend a hand and some tools.

The mission tonight was to drain the coolant out. Remove all the coolant hoses, the radiator res, and the fan to give us enough room to work on getting the Crank pulley, the power steering pulley and then timing cover off. as all of these get replaced.

Here is what we were looking at after the coolant stuff was taken out.

This is when you need a pulley puller to get it off, Marc had the tool.

Here is a close up of how it works

So after getting the pulley off it obviously looks like this. Good news is there is a notch in the crank so the pulley only goes back on one way.

After you use the puller tool to remove the power steering pulley, you can begin to work on getting the timing cover off. This for the most part isnt a problem, just remove all of the bolts. We ran into one snag, there is a power steering line that goes into the pump. Well its held there with a bracket which goes into the timing cover. So that will have to be removed. Its obviouse once you try and take the cover off. Then with some prying the cover pops right off. We also noticed this process might have been easier if we took the valve covers off. For one the valve cover gasket got screwed up when we pulled the timing cover off. And it would allowe to come off much easier anyhow.

This is what your left with, a warning the oil pan is now exposed so be carefull not to get anything in there.

Here is a shot of the difference between an 03/04 timing cover on the right and a 99-01 on the left. It obvious why you need to change it.

It looks like we will replace the water pump I mean its sitting right there begging to get replaced, so we are gonna do that.

Tomorrow we are planning to try and pull the valve covers off, work on getting the new timing cover on, change out the oil cooler and a handful of other stuff so stay tuned.

Marc you are the man as always and thanks to Jay again

I leave you with a shot of all the boxes of parts that need to go on the car, and keep in mind I got two more at my parents house Wink

Any questions feel free to ask.
